It all started
with a bartender named Muck who needed a DJ for a X-Mas party. He
stopped over and asked if I would do it. I said, “I’m not a DJ.” He
said, “You have more speakers than the DJ's that have been playing
there and look at how many CD's you have. Will you do it?" So I did.
Turned out I’m really good at it.
Then he asked if I
would do more there, so I built a set of speakers that were 6 feet
tall. They were a pain to move around, but then after 2 or 3 weeks of
doing it, people started asking me to do weddings and other bars. So I
had to come up with a name witch is harder then I thought at the time.
My brother helped me with it though. He said, “Why don't you call it
lighting DJ.” I thought about it. Well that night I was setting up
the lights and it fell and “struck” me. I went to an after bar party
and they said you should be called lighting struck the Dj. Well I took
that and turned it into LIGHTING STRIKES DJ. That has been my life’s
passion ever since.
Then I got a
bright idea to make it louder and with more power. So I had a good
friend of mine help me build some new ones that were 3 feet tall but a
set of 4. Well they still were 6 feet but easier to more around and
it ran off, believe it or not,
12 volt amps, car
amps with 2 chargers, and 4 marine batteries. It was loud. The only
thing you had to plug in was the light and the cd players. Yeah me
with cd players! I hated having all the cd so I came up with idea to
use my computer, a Pentium 1 200MHZ with 32 MB of ram. It worked, but
it could not hold all the songs. So I still had to use the cd players
but not all the time.
Then I got a
partner and went to Sonics speakers and QSC amps. Well there was one
Mackie. Then he went back to work and so I bought him out. But would
fate have it, he started DJing again. He has Sparky's Sounds. You
can look him up. He is by Wausau now. For you that don't know he by
Sparky his name is Mark.
Now I
use all Carvin tops 15' and Carvin bottoms 22' and QSC amps with 12
lights on my truss and foggers and black lights. Oh Yeah my fav.
Beer Bong. Then for smaller things, I have Sonics twin 15' and QSC
amps, lots of lights in that one too. I like to have a good time but
not a Jerry Springer time. I wish some times I had the Jerry
Bell for some of the parties I've done. |
